Foam Born is built around a rhyming couplet, repeated at the end; "my love is a foam born fester, flip-flopping with a translucid hum; touch, devoted sensation, yet through distance, I do succumb". Just as the poem suggests, the samples, drums, and vocals are both melancholy and hopeful; from a distance, love blooms, but it brings with it more loneliness.
Inspired by Magenta from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, the video starts off showing only Blue Odeur's eyes and lips singing the song. Because of the COVID-19 quarantine, this video was created solely in the artist's apartment in Montreal. The video depicts Blue Odeur performing in front of a galactic scenery conveying the ethereal, space age we are living in and the future we may or may not be destined for.
Foam Born is the first single off Blue Odeur’s upcoming album still TBA.
If you like the track, make sure to buy it on Bandcamp as all proceeds will be directly donated to Black Lives Matter Canada & Justice for Regis.
"Blue Odeur is Montreal-based producer lbardsley. Angular electronic art-pop, Blue Odeur playfully turns genres on their head, combining and contrasting where she sees fit. Refusing to settle for tedium, Blue Odeur embraces spontaneity, taking you by the collar and asking you to dance. In live performances she captivates and charms, teasing out the syncopation of your inner erratic (im)pulses."
